“What’s up beautiful?” Adrian walked into his bedroom where Tamia was lying across his bed reading a magazine.

“Not much,” she looked up. “Where have you been?”

“At my brother’s house with my nephews,” he kicked off his shoes and threw them in the closet. “Then I drove over to Eastwind and dropped Ana off so that Iris wouldn’t have to come over here.”

“How’s Nikki doing?” Her question surprised him.

“She seems fine. It’s Darian I’m more concerned about. He was talking crazy about making sacrifices like he doesn’t do enough for his family. And that right there,” he sat on the bed. “Is why I ain’t married right now.”

“All women are not like Nikki, Adrian,” she sat up. “I can guarantee you that if you marry a woman like me she’d be ten times the woman Nikki is. Supportive, loving, and explosive in the bedroom.”

“I heard that,” Adrian kissed Tamia gently on the lips.

“I heard the interview went well.”

“Yeah, Rodney was real down to earth.”

“I wish you would have called me and told me you weren’t bringing your daughter.”

“I know, I guess I wasn’t thinking. It was a last minute change of plans. Just give me a minute to take a quick shower.”

“I need to go home. I have to take care of a few things so I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Cool,” Adrian nodded.

“I’ll miss you,” she eyed him as she sat up.

“Be careful,” he kissed her. “I’m tired so I’m going to shower and go to bed anyway.”

“I’ll call you tomorrow afternoon,” she stood and embraced him.

“I’ll be here,” he kissed her and then turned and headed for his bathroom and shut the door behind him.

Tamia had beat Adrian at his own game and he knew it. She’d gone all day without calling him and by late afternoon he’d given up and called her when he couldn’t stand not hearing from her for a minute longer. When he told her he had to see her she tried to brush him off, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer, so she agreed to stop by for a short while. He felt like a child feeling excited as the first guest at his birthday party had arrive when he heard his doorbell ring.

“Why is this woman ringing the bell?” Adrian headed towards the front of the house to greet Tamia.

“Hey,” Ariel stood on his doorstep when he opened the door.

"What's up girl?" Adrian gave Ariel a nod.

"Not much,” Ariel shrugged.

“Come in," Adrian stepped back and allowed her to enter his apartment.

"Did I come at a bad time?" She wanted to know when he closed the door and did not invite her further in.

"No, you're alright. I'm just waiting for someone to stop by," he shrugged. "What's up?"

"I took your advice and talked to Pastor Wright."

"Good," Adrian smiled.

"Adrian I don't..." she stopped and stared at him.

"Don't what?"

"I don’t want to be just your friend," she spoke softly.

"Ariel, you're a nice girl. I care about you."

"What's wrong with me? Be honest Adrian because I've tried and I can't figure out why you aren't attracted to me," she spoke with tear filled eyes.
